Guests repeatedly praise the restaurant’s chill yet upbeat vibe, which strikes the perfect balance between casual comfort and energetic dining. Whether you're visiting at the lively hour or a quieter late-night setting, the ambiance encourages relaxation and connection. Although parking in this bustling neighborhood can require some effort, the inviting interior—with its clean lines, booths, and high-top tables—makes stepping inside well worth it.
Customer reviews spotlight not only the high quality of the food but also the welcoming staff who contribute to a seamless dining experience. Patrons love how quickly their orders arrive and often recommend the Matcha Mochi Ice Cream as a sweet, satisfying finale. While service can occasionally feel stretched during busy times, the consistent culinary excellence—highlighted by dishes like the well-executed Lion King Roll and fresh Shumai—anchors Ichiban as a cherished local treasure.
In essence, Ichiban isn’t just a sushi spot; it’s a lively, reliable destination for anyone seeking bold flavors, thoughtful cocktails, and a community-driven atmosphere in Cincinnati’s culinary scene. After you dine, take a stroll around Mt. Lookout to fully embrace the neighborhood’s charm—it’s the perfect complement to a memorable meal at Ichiban.
The dishes here are very unique and the atmosphere is chill! I strongly recommend their matcha mochi ice cream and either the lychee or Fuji apple sake. This is a perfect place for a full meal or just appetizers and drinks. While you’re here, walk around Mt. Lookout afterwards! They are in a great location.
This place has a very extensive sushi menu. There's good-looking cocktails and wines, too, but I didn't explore any drinks the night I came. It was a casual, upbeat vibe on a Thursday night. The rainbow roll is a good test for quality, and I thought it was very solid. The lion king roll had an excellently cooked piece of salmon on top -- quite enjoyable. The shumai was very high quality, too. Everything is surprisingly affordable and less expensive than your average sushi spot, but quality is not compromised. Service was very good. I'd be more than happy to come back.
I went there at like 12 am on a Friday. It wasn’t super busy but there were still people sitting and coming in. The drinks were so good. They only had one server and once bartender on. The specialty rolls are delicious and take advantage of that happy hour because you get so much food. Our server was also the bartender and he was really nice and our food came out pretty fast. There were some intoxicated couples coming in after a night out and the servers had fun with them. Atmosphere is laid back but you can also get dressed up and go there too. I will definitely be back. IT WAS SO DELICIOUS!!
Nice staff with a clean and chill atmosphere. Great food with reasonable prices. Parking is scarce and you'll have to find street parking or walk from nearby in most cases. Decent Bar and selection. High top tables along with booths available. One star was removed for wait times on food.
Service isn't amazing, but hey, what are you gonna do? Food absolutely rocks. Prices are incredible. A cherished local treasure. Ol' reliable.
We enjoyed lunch at a weird time (one server seen the whole time). The tea was a welcomed treat while we waited especially because it is so cold in there! Kungfu roll was amazing (server had a great recommendation). I also had the volcano (liked it ok) and the eel and crab stick sashimi (classic). Restrooms were kind of small but clean. Did not have a hot beverage to go cup for my tea but accommodated me and gave me two plastic cups! Very thoughtful. Overall I love this place, food is amazing, service is nice.
Nice-ish restaurant lacking some finishing touches. The service was good and the food was great. Restaurant isn't quite as nice inside as you would expect, just not super well cared for. Bathrooms were a big disappointment. Hostess had jeans and a sweatshirt? Just could put in a little more effort, all around.
